If an NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) transaction was processed with the wrong date, the system does not allow the date to be changed on posted transactions. However, you can correct it by following the steps below.

Before You Start:

Make sure the accounting period is open for the date you plan to use. If the period is closed, you won’t be able to enter the corrected transactions.

Steps to Correct the Transaction:

Void the NSF Charges from the Homeowner Account
Go to the homeowner’s account and void the NSF charges that were posted with the incorrect date.

Void Related GL Entries (If Applicable)
If the system created General Ledger entries for this NSF (such as fees), void those entries as well.

Re-Enter the NSF Charges with the Correct Date
Manually add the charges again to the homeowner’s account using the correct date.
Note: These will now be treated as standard charges.

Create a Journal Entry to Adjust the Bank Account

To reflect that the charges were NSF and to correct the bank balance, create a journal entry using the appropriate GL accounts. Be sure to use the correct date so that the adjustment appears properly in the bank reconciliation and financial reports
